With a growing reputation as one of the cultural hot spots of Northern Europe, Helsinki is a modern city that elegantly combines capital chic with outdoorsy adventures. Helsinki’s urban heart is packed with great restaurants, lively bars, vibrant nightclubs and live music venues. The city is also known for its museums and galleries, with public art present in every neighborhood. Safe and excellently served by a well-connected public transport system and packed with open green spaces, Helsinki is also a child-friendly city perfect for family vacations. And, of course, Helsinki is also a city surrounded by forests, lakes and the sea.
The train arrives in Helsinki early in the morning (around 6 am). We will take a short walk to the city’s main market place by the sea. Vendors have their stalls stacked with local veggies, flowers, pastries and handicrafts. We’ll enjoy a lovely breakfast, explore the market place and witness the city wake up to a new day. During the morning hours, you’ll get an introduction to all the main sights in the beautiful Finnish capital. From the market, we will embark on a boat cruise. The 1,5 hrs cruise circles around the near city archipelago with its picturesque islets and fortresses, and offers amazing views of the city.
After returning to the shore, we’ll head to one of the city’s hotspots for lunch.
Löyly, an urban oasis occupying a stretch of beautiful Helsinki waterfront, offers a warm welcome and many delights for locals and visitors alike. Löyly (Finnish word meaning the water thrown on the hot rocks in the sauna) is not only a restaurant but also a public sauna.
While Löyly offers exceptional architecture in a unique location, they are also committed to sustainable business and green construction. The environment has been the number one consideration throughout the project, inspiring everything from building materials to the restaurant menu.
In the afternoon, we’ll check in to our hotel and you will have the evening to explore and enjoy the versatile and hip city. From museums to parks and great shopping, there’s no shortage of activities. Helsinki is buzzing with great restaurants offering cuisine from all over the world.
