Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Ivalo & Aurora Camp with Open Fire Dinner
Whether you come by bus or plane, we will meet and greet you in Ivalo. Let the holiday begin!
Once you have checked into your apartment and settled in comfortably, it’s time to meet your local guide who will give you all the information you need about the upcoming activities.
On the night of your arrival, we take you to our cozy Aurora Camp, where you can watch the sky and wait for the first glimpse of the northern lights while our professional guide cooks your dinner over an open fire. Despite the cold, you feel warm and cozy wrapped in thick blankets and a hot drink in your hand.
Day 2: Winter Adventure Day
Our arctic winter adventure takes you deep into the untouched wilderness of Inari.
Equipped with electric snowscooters, backcountry skis and toboggans, you will learn to travel through deep snow. No previous experience is required – just be prepared to have lots of fun!
As the outdoor activities increase the appetite especially in the winter conditions, our guides will prepare a delicious lunch over an open fire, which is served and enjoyed during the excursion.
We will have ice swimming hole and tent sauna ready for the bravest ones!
Day 3: Dog Sledding & Aurora Hunting
On the third day of your holiday, it’s time for a dog sledding adventure! During this two-hour safari, you will experience a unique adventure in the wilderness of Inari. You get to drive your own dog sled and enjoy the fantastic views and silence. After the safari, you will be offered a hot drink, and the team will tell you more about the dogs and how they spend their time in different seasons.
In the evening, before heading off to hunt Auroras, our guides will first tell you more about the Northern Lights, how they form and how to best predict their appearance.
Day 4 - Ice Fishing & Bushcraft Skills
Throughout this day, you will learn practical wilderness skills that are valuable for any outdoor adventure!
First, our expert guides provide hands-on instruction on choosing a suitable location for campsite, pitching a tent, and setting up a shelter using a tarp. They will also tell you about various fire-making techniques using different kinds of kindling and tinder to ignite and maintain a fire.
Then you will be introduced to authentic local winter fishing techniques: ice fishing with a jig (a short fishing rod) and fishing with nets that have been set under the ice.
After learning how to catch fish, you will learn to handle and prepare your catch using various cooking methods over an open fire. And when the meal is cooked to perfection, it’s time to gather around a roaring fire to enjoy the freshest fish soup you’ve ever tasted.
Day 5 - Snowmobiling & Ice Karting
We kick start the day by hopping on snowmobiles! First, our guide will give you a short lesson on these snow machines and how to drive them safely. Then we go for a ride along a nice snowy path to our lunch spot.
After lunch, it’s time to get your blood pumping and experience the thrill of driving our specially designed winter go-karts on an icy track. How about some amicable competition with friends as you try to beat each other’s qualifying times? Be the first to cross the finish line and emerge victorious in this exhilarating winter race!
Since Ice Karting has a height limit of 150cm (due to kart sizes) younger children can join tobogganing on nearby longest toboggan run in Finland!
Day 6: Departure from Ivalo with an option for extending your holiday
Goodbyes are always hard. To make things easier, we can arrange transportation for you to the airport or bus station if needed.
If you want to extend your holiday by visiting Rovaniemi, Kirkenes or anywhere else, we are happy to help you plan and can recommend places that we have already identified as good destinations.
We hope you enjoyed your vacation with us, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future!
