Northern Lights Hunting with Aurora Workshop

Capture the Northern Lights: Learn and Hunt!

Join us for a unique 4-hour adventure that combines a deep dive into the science of the Aurora Borealis with an exciting hunt for the Northern Lights in the beautiful wilderness of Northern Lapland. We begin our journey with meeting in 18:30 at the Xwander Basecamp, in the center of Ivalo Village, where you’ll be geared up with winter overalls and boots to be ready for the Aurora Advanture. We will then continue with Northern Lights Workshop where you’ll gain insights into the Northern Lights, including their scientific background, mythology, forecasting, and photography techniques.

After the workshop, we head out in comfortable minibuses to the most promising locations for that evening. Utilizing our wide network of wilderness pathways, we’ll explore the wilderness of Inari municipality, an area with minimal light pollution, offering optimal conditions for viewing the Northern Lights.

Our experienced guides will closely monitor cloud and aurora forecasts, ensuring we maximize our chances of witnessing this magical phenomenon. Enjoy warm drinks and snacks to stay comfortable during our expedition. This adventure is not only about the Aurora but also about discovering the local culture, history, and nature of Northern Lapland.

We offer two alternative options for the Aurora hunting part: either with a heated sledge or with snowshoes, depending on your preference and the conditions. We offer free rescheduling (or option to switch to another activity per availability) if the conditions are not optimal for the the Auroras on tour date.
