What to Expect

  • Physical Requirements: The tour involves being outdoors in cold weather, so participants should be prepared for low temperatures. Warm winter overalls and boots are available for an extra fee.
  • Accessibility: The experience is not fully accessible by wheelchair due to the nature of the terrain and activities. Contact us for accessible options for this tour!
  • The Wilderness camp includes a campfire and a heated tent that can be used for warming up when necessary
  • The participants will use sharp objects such as axes and knives. We will also work closely with fire. Please let us know in advance of any restrictions so we can assess necessary extra safety measures.
  • Clothing and Gear: Warm clothing and suitable winter gear are essential. Overalls, warm boots, and gloves are provided if needed, but it’s advisable to dress in layers
  • A temperature limit of -25°C: If the forecast for the day is colder / weather conditions unsuitable, we will cancel and/or reschedule the trip. There is no additional fee in case the trip is cancelled by Xwander

Itinerary

Meeting at Xwander Nordic

We will meet up at Xwander headquarters at 10:00. We will gear you up for the Aurora Camp adventure with overalls, boots and gloves if needed.

Survival Skills Camp

Once we arrive at the camp, our expert guides will provide hands-on instructions on using snow to our advantage.

Next, we’ll delve into firemaking techniques, exploring the different types of wood, how to cut and prepare it and maintain a fire. Safety and environmental responsibility will be emphasized throughout the session.

Our excursion continues with navigation training, covering the use of maps and compasses as well as natural navigation methods. Participants will learn to interpret signs in nature and stars to determine directions.

In between honing our survival skills we enjoy a campfire lunch.

Total duration of the activity is approximately five hours.

What is the cancellation policy?

  • Cancellation fee of 100% is charged if cancelled 7 days or less before the event.
  • Cancellation fee of 50% is charged if cancelled 30 days or less before the event.
  • Cancellation fee of 30% is charged if cancelled 45 days or less before the event.

What do I need to bring?

  • Warm Clothes: Dress in weather appropriate layers including a good hat, scarf, and socks
  • Phone/camera, power bank if needed
  • Snacks and Water: While snacks are provided, you may want to bring your favorites
